Key Laboratory of Bio-based Material Science & Technology, Ministry of Education
In 2004, the key laboratory was built based on the Key Open Laboratory of Wood Science and Engineering of the Ministry of Forestry and was officially opened after being accepted by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2006. The key laboratory, which is the first key laboratory of the MOE in this field approved to be built in China, focuses on the efficient utilization of China's rich biomass resources, such as pristine wood and agricultural and forestry waste. With the aim of achieving ground-breaking transformations of biomass resources into high-tech and high value-added materials, we specialize in innovative scientific propositions and in the technological requirements of industrial development. We jointly tackle key problems through politics, industry, learning, research and application. Achieving the goals of efficient utilization of biomass resources and high value industrialization in China is part of the priority development plan for the comprehensive utilization of agriculture and forestry biomass in the outline of National Medium- and Long-term Scientific and Technological Development Plan.
Engineering Research Center of Advanced Wooden Materials, Ministry of Education
Construction of the Engineering Research Center of Advanced Wooden Materials of the Ministry of Education (MOE) was approved by the MOE to begin in October 2019. The head of the center is Prof. Xie Yanjun and the technical committee is composed of famous experts from different Chinese universities, scientific research institutes, enterprises and institutions. To overcome the problems of lack of high-quality wood raw materials for industry, poor functionality and lack of diversity of wood materials, waste and low utilization rates of agricultural and forestry waste resources, and outdated production equipment, the center carries out interdisciplinary research in four research directions: improvement of wood function, biomass composites, intelligent bionics of wood materials and intelligent processing equipment for wood materials.
