The scientific research achievement “Revealing the room temperature phosphorescence emission effect of natural wood and its regulation mechanism” has been listedamong the top ten advances in forest and grass science and technology. (http://csf.org.cn/news/newsDetail.aspx?aid=58922)
The research team discovered the phenomenon of room temperature phosphorescence of wood, which is induced by the network structure formed by cellulose and hemicellulose in the wood cell walls, and went on to develop technology forin situoxidation of wood cell walls. The limited amount of lignin could be controlled to achieve directional enhancement of wood phosphorescence lifetime at room temperature, and an automated assembly line for oxidation was designed and built. This work achieves the macro and controllable transformation of natural wood into luminous wood in a dark environment and establishes a theoretical basis for the innovative utilization of wood with high added value.
